The 'helicenter Knokke-Heist' official opening took place on october 8th 2004, altough it was already operational since July 17th. The heliport is operated by St-Truiden/Brustem (ex Belgian AF base) based Crown Helicopters nv and has a mixed fleet of helicopters including Robinson R-22's and R-44's, Schweizer 269's, Bell 206 Jetrangers and a EC.120B Colibri. The heliport is situated in the industrial estate 't Walletje between Knokke and Westkapelle. Since late 2006 the heliport now has a hangar which houses the based choppers .
