The military air base of Koksijde, homebase for the famous Seakings of the 40th Squadron and the Heli-flight Marine Alouette III's, also houses the Royal West Aviation Club vzw and a couple of private owners. The civil activities are only taking place during the weekends starting on Friday evening till sunday evening and during the summer months in the evening on weekdays aswell. The clubhouse of the local flying club is situated along the 'Ten Bogaerdelaan' (N8) between Veurne en Koksijde just next to runway 11, from here you have a good view over the airfield and it's movements. The flying club ownes some light aircraft and microlights. For more info visit the www.royalwac.be website.

Seaking RS-04, photo copyright Kristof VandermoereLike already mentionned here above, Koksijde is the homebase for the Belgian Air Force Seakings of the 40 Squadron, wellknown thanks to the popular TV-series 'Windkracht 10'. The 40th Squadron of the Belgian Air Force still operates 5 Westland Seakings mostly for SAR missions (Search And Rescue) over the Northsea. Next to that also 3 Alouette III's are stationned at Koksijde, operated by the Heliflight Marine mainly for air supply to the Marine ships.
