Visiting aircraft

The airfield of Moorsele still is property of the Belgian ministry of Defence, which occasionally uses it for training parajump. Moorsele also houses the West-Flemish section of the Paracentrum Vlaanderen vzw or Skydive Flanders. The aircraft used is Usually Cessna Grand Caravan OO-FUS or sometimes you can also find some of the other aircraft (view list resident aircraft). Next to the skydive activities at Moorsele, quite a few microlights and a handfull of light aircraft and old-timers are based here. Since early 2005 the aerodrome also has a flying club, more info on www.vliegclubmoorsele.be. The former cafetaria 'Blériot' which was already closed for some years, is broken up unfortunally during 2004. The airfield has one single grass runway, about 650 meters long and about seven hangars. Due to the fact that Moorsele is military property, entrance onto the field is prohibited! From outside the field, along the Ledegemsestraat, most of the hangars are visible aswell as the runway.

On the other side of the airfield there is a terrain for radio controlled flying and is used by the West-Vlaamse Aeroclub vzw (WVLAC). Every first sunday of september they are organizing their annual model airshow with participants from Belgium and other countries, worth while a visit! the entrance to this club is not located at the main airfield entrance but in the Overheulestraat (road from Moorsele to Rollegem/Kapelle), Some further passed the riding school 'Zilveren Spoor'. More info on their website www.wvlac.be.
